Detour Scarf

What do you do when your I’m too cool to wear mommy’s handmade ,soon to be fifteen year old  ,asks you out  of the blue “ mumma  will you make me a scarf? “

You  pick up  that jaw that dropped to the floor  ,  drop everything else,  run, not walk ,to your  yarn stash and start frantically searching for a skein of yarn that might seal the deal , before he has a  chance to rethink his request and change his mind. And so I put aside my  flower motif scarf and cast on for this scarf. I cast on 33 stitches, 4mm pony straights.Did a 1X1 rib and worked till I finished the skein.Took me a week as I worked on it all the time I got free..

It wouldn’t be A , If there was no drama with a capital D attached as his last name  .He just had to ham it up for the camera and show the versatile ways this scarf could be used.

this picture kind of scares me….where has my baby gone? is that not a young man I see?angular jaw and all? Where have those chubby cheeks gone? TIME, did you not get the memo to stop running so fast?!!_DSC0075

  3. Hi Pearlin, I tried to post a comment from my iPhone but all of a sudden is froze up and I couldn't figure out what went wrong.

Anyways ... great scarf! I can see that A has changed a lot. My 14 year old has been growing like a weed since December and is taller than me now. And my baby, my firstborn, graduates from high school on June 2nd. Yikes! How did that happen.

Time seems to be speeding by of late. Have a fabulous Friday! Tammy

  10. Love the scarf, love even more the photo shoot! My kids don't pose for pics well. I know about time. All of a sudden I have a high school senior who will be going off to college in 3 months. NOOOOOOO! Maybe I won't let her go until I finish her blanket, which is just over halfway done?

  13. Oh I so understand what you mean. My son is 17 and I haven't knit for him since he was 3 - face it, don't need many heavy sweaters in Texas. Your son is very handsome and what personality. As my son has been looking at colleges in the North he has told me it might be okay for me to knit him a sweater! They grow up!
